I ate my first artichoke near Nice

I ate my first artichoke in Berre Les Alpes near Nice.

It was delicious, if a little fiddly.  You peel off the leaves and dip the stem in dressing before sucking it.  Then you get down to a white stringy bit you cut off and eat the grey remainder.

I was there helping a university friend open up her family’s apartment for the summer.  We fixed the garden and went out to buy things like a dishwasher, hoover, sun loungers, plants etc.

I swam in the pool a bit.

I read a book there I found called prayer which was gripping.

On the last day we went to Nice which is genteel.

The Russian cathedral is worth a visit.  The interior is spectacular.
