Stormzy shoots latest video on Peabody Kings Cross estate

Stormzy came to Kings Cross last week-end to shoot a music video for his track, Blinded by your Grace. There was a cow and he also wanted, but couldn’t have, sheep.

‘Stormzy was brought up in Thornton Heath and has been trying to change perceptions about life on council estates through his actions and lyrics. He was keen to get the local community involved in the filming and wanted them to be part of the day. Filming took place in the central court area with some of the shooting happening on the corridors and landings. Over 300 extras were recruited; Tramaine Bailey, our apprentice in the youth team, was responsible for finding over 50 Peabody young people to take part, and residents of three of our flats were filmed on their balconies.’ Peabody intranet

He bought his portrait by one of our regulars to the Friday art class, Gayle. Those who got their balconies used got £500 and every extra £100 – a lovely Christmas bonus.

Peabody charged Stormzy a fee to film and £5,000 will go towards supporting the local befriending project helping isolated and vulnerable residents.
