The placement offer
30th June 2009, placement offer
Dear Hazel,
You have been matched to the attached placement as Institutional Development Advisor with the Local Council of Bogo in Cameroon. Please find Placement Information attached for your consideration as well as a description of the Institutional Development process in Cameroon. The departure date for Cameroon is tentatively set for 01 September 2009 however there is flexibility and you can choose to arrive for the next batch arrival date (01 March, 2010).
Your varied experiences and employment in the public, voluntary and government funded sectors make you a very suitable candidate for this role. Specifically, your experience in developing policy, delivering and monitoring projects/programmes and your experience working at a grassroots level will be extremely useful as well. Although the placement requires someone with a Level 4 French, we believe that you will be able to increase your level of French by self-briefing before departure as well, on the job. The Institutional Development Process is one that we are using across all municipal councils in Cameroon and a tool has been created to help volunteers work through the process. You will be trained on this tool upon arrival in Cameroon. We have also attached 1 of the many resources that we can supply to help you gain a stronger sense of local governance. Please do not hesitate to ask for more information about this. Rest assured you will be thoroughly trained upon arrival and are not expected to know how to conduct this process before arrival in Cameroon.
The placement is based in Bogo, a smaller community very close to the capital city of Maroua in the Far North of Cameroon.
