I have an impact on stray dogs in Batticaloa
Stray dogs are a big issue in Sri Lanka although local people don’t generally bother about them. Of course I know humans are more important, but I had a chance while at Batticaloa to try and put something in the District Plan about them and a few weeks ago I had some good news.
Hi Hazel –
Just wanted to let you know – the stars have finally aligned and the TAPA will arrive in Batti in about 3 days to do a clinic, making use of the Action Plan you had signed for us! But – it gets better – we just received a message from Project Embark with whom we work. The head of it is also the Habitat for Humanity Ambassador for Sri Lanka, and there is a Habitat community in Batti, and Embark will cost share with us for this first clinic (half the time in the Habitat community and half in another part of Batti) – and then we will be able to go back a second time before the end of year and do more work in the Habitat community and in the rest of the community cost sharing with Embark. We also now operate using a large surgery bus, and will be coming with a team of probably 12 people, including four vets, (plus two volunteer vets from Australia).
You done good!
Will let you know how it goes.
