solace facing restructure

I am going through a restructure at work and it is bringing out the worst in me. As community development is a non-statutory function I have lost count of the number of times I have been made redundant.  When the three children were all dependent on me it was horrific.  It needles at your worst insecurities and imaginings.

Whenever I need solace I turn to books and I have been reading, ‘What should I do with my life?’ by Po Bronson for the second time.

These three quotes spoke to me

‘The individuals that thrive will do so because they focused on the question of who they really are, and from that found work they truly love, and in so doing unleashed a productive and creative power they never imagined’.

‘Work shouldn’t just be fun. Work should be like life – sometimes fun, sometimes moving, and defined by meaningful events’.

‘You want to know where your fears are hiding? Tell me what you know about yourself.  Tell me what you can’t live without’.

‘I’m too valuable to die, too tenacious to wait on anyone’s mercy, and too creative to accept your neglect as my destiny’ – UCB word for today – Bob and Debbie Gass
