consultation – an experience in South Beds District Council

 Lightness of touch is important.

In all of last week’s machinations

And speculations on what was to be

I would really have liked to be ask-ed

What my career aspirations might be

We started a consultation on structures

A con it turned out so to be

‘cos by Friday we all got our answer

Jane xxx and Dave xxx designees

Let us not be labelled as whingers

‘cos we would agree as one

That those two are such stalwart champions

They would be second to none

But there are matters of unfinished business

Me and Stephen would like to pursue

Like this little number on ‘integration’

For community safety to do

When we have finally cracked it

And remember as a team we’re quite new

Then we’ll be happy to go our own ways

To be otherwise guided by you

I have been advis-ed to lobby

Sooner rather than late

To be at the forefront of decisions

You may be pois-ed to make

The star of community safety

Can only be replaced in my heart

By others of comparable beauty

Community strategy or health for a start

Shocking as it may seem to you

I really do like to be

Working up close as possible

To 1st/2nd tier prodigies

While lying in bed and composing

It sort of occurred to me

That in some of what I am feeling

Is a clue

To organisational culture

Going askew

Motivational forces

Money, values and love

Intertwin-ed with passion

And for some of us voices from God

A mirror of South Beds Communities

We want vision and justice and hope

To be treated as individuals

Not herded about like goats

I am sure I never showed this to anyone at the time! Read also
