popup business school Thamesmead
This is some of my learning as it relates to my blog from the www.popupbusinessschool.co.uk
whom have been running a two week course in Thamesmead for Peabody.
They are advocates of starting your own business with no money.
First of all you have to think about something you really LOVE. I love writing.
The next thing you have to do is get out and SELL it. This is the problem why my website is not geared up to make money because I didn’t think about selling first.
It’s not how many resources you have, but how resourceful you are. Make the first move!
The questions we were asked which I couldn’t answer immediately were
Who is your customer? They speak English and may, but not exclusively, be over 50 as I am writing from a 50+ perspective.Where are they? They live all over the world.
Where do they go? They travel. They are open to the world and new experiences.
What/who do they like? They know life is not a dress rehearsal. They see life as a journey and they are all about self-improvement and reflection.
What do they watch? They have friends and family round to share meals and chat. They watch TV selectively. They read.Where do they shop? Probably on line.
What do they buy? Holidays, technical gadgets, brands, niche.
What do they read? Autobiographies, travel, world issues – mm! perhaps not totally high brow!
If this is not you and you are reading my blog, I would really like some feedback!
So, what is my value proposition? DRAFT!
My blog
aims to help people globally
who want to learn through people
explore a bigger world
think community
by telling stories and sharing my experiences good and bad
so that you can reflect and learn
On the course they teach people how to set up their own website for free using Weebly.com and advise generally on where to get things for free.
You could also use crowd-funding or kickstarter.com.
Remember to choose a name that takes you to the top of google. Type in Hazel Durbridge and Born59 and see where I am. It’s incredible luck. People pay a fortune for this.
They finished week 1 by giving participants 12 guiding principles in starting your own business which I thought were excellent. I am not going to repeat them here because it might be copyright, but I sent them to two of my children who are currently working abroad they were so good. Check them out!
