I got paid this week & remember my old job

Darling J1

I got paid this week which was awesome.  It seemed a huge amount after the no money or awful money I have been living off for the past 4 years.  Still totally loving the job.  On Friday we had a leavers’ do for a woman in my team and all went to the pub after work.

I left early because iron man, Harpenden banker invited me round for dinner.  He was the one who sent me the vitriolic texts and emails until post-midnight after I said ‘why would I ring you?’  We watched a Woody Allen film from his box set and Basic Instinct.  Why do women think that Michael Douglas is sexy?  I feel sorry for Mexican banker and I do quite enjoy his company even if he only talks about himself.

I saw Iris on Tuesday who is very well and over her fall now.  Tim, her youngest son, is getting married in May.  On Wednesday I went to church group and we talked about heaven.  Interesting what even committed Christians’ perception of it is.  On Thursday I went to a year 11 prize giving at Challney and met up with the girl I mentored who got her grades to go to VIth form at St Georges Harpenden.  I was reminded how miserable I was there.  The quality of classroom teaching was good, but the event was turgid and uninspired.  I know schools are not rich, but they could have done so much more to create a better ambience with seating and when/how they served/ presented refreshments, oh and attitude.  Nag, nag, nag, 2 PE teachers in full throttle, year 11 this, year 11 that.  Well, they’re not year 11 now are they?  I don’t miss the place with its hierarchies and petty unkindness, although at the time I was grateful for a job and it was interesting to go back to a school environment after a gap of 20+ years.

Apparently the bad weather is about to kick in so yesterday I cut the grass.  Next week I begin door knocking in earnest so will need to wrap up warm.

Friend with disabilities has gone very quiet. The other guy is writing virtually daily and we are getting in to quite personal stuff in our emails – no date yet though.  Cancer man is back in contact.

All is well.  I love you.  Mum xxx
